Heather's Muse
Favorite Book - To Kill a Mockingbird, without a doubt. I’ve read it more than 50 times, and I wanted to name my daughter Scout. Then Demi Moore named her daughter Scout, and I changed my mind.
Favorite TV Show - Right now, The Office. But I also REALLY like Lost, Good Eats, and reruns of The Brady Bunch. When I was young, I daydreamed that I would be the brunette cousin of the Brady boys, just like Oliver was the blonde cousin of the Brady girls. I imagined Marcia helping me with my homework and brushing my hair, and the boys would help me practice for my part as the fairy princess in the school play by hooking me up to a clothesline in the backyard.
Favorite Movie - If I want to laugh, it’s Best in Show, if I want to cry, it’s Terms of Endearment, if I want to be remember what’s important in life, it’s It’s a Wonderful Life. I also REALLY REALLY love Sound of Music, High School Musical, Urban Cowboy, Footloose, Spanglish- anything with Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller, Luke or Owen Wilson, Vince Vaughan, or Will Ferrell- preferably in ensemble..Who is the funniest of all of them? I ponder this often, and I truly can’t decide.
Favorite Band - Is it too lame to still say Radiohead?
Favorite Song - For Dancing? Hey Ya or Dancing Queen. For Singing? You’re So Vain by Carly Simon or almost anything by Neil Diamond. For Driving? Any song by Boston. For Romance? What Would I Do by Ray Charles. If you have never heard this song, I urge you to seek it out now and listen. Really. Now.
Favorite Food - Potatoes.
Favorite Drink - Every morning? Starbucks Coffee. Mid afternoon? Dunkin’ Donuts coffee. After work? Harpoon IPA. Before I go to bed? A pint of cold skim milk. At a wedding? It’s a toss up between champagne and a gin and tonic (I am a lot of fun at a wedding...) Hot Summer evening? A glass of Vidal Blanc from the Blackstone Winery in Naples, Maine.
Favorite Quote - “Would I rather be feared or loved? Easy...both. I want people to fear how much they love me.” -Michael Scott
Favorite Tour de France Rider - Tom Boonen
Favorite Magazine - Martha Stewart Living hands down. I have been a regular subscriber since 1998- when as a 19 year old, it was not the hippest thing to read. I adore her perfection, attention to detail, and ridiculously complicated projects. I never do any of it, but I like to imagine that someday I will stamp my monogram on a linen napkin using dye made from everyday pantry items and objects from nature. Someday...

What Drives Eric?
Favorite Book: The only book I can think of is The Catcher was a Spy by Nicholas Dawidoff. It’s the biography of a baseball catcher from the 1930s named Moe Berg who was secretly a spy for the U.S. Government prior to the FBI. I can’t believe they haven’t made a movie about his life yet.
Favorite TV Show - Jeopardy. My wife and I compete to see whose brain holds more useless knowledge. I usually win. My favorite series right now are How I met your Mother and My Name is Earl.
Favorite Movie -Bull Durham has always been one of my favorites with my favorite scene being Kevin Costner’s monologue about “what he believes in” and also The Untouchables (Two Costner movies?) in particular the gunfight at the train station is a beautiful piece of cinematography. I grew up on the first three Star Wars movies and they still hold a special place in my heart. Through years of practice as a child playing with the action figures, I learned to deliver a pretty convincing Wookie growl.
Favorite Band - My favorite bands are currently Arcade Fire, Death Cab for Cutie and The Pixies seldom leave my regular rotation. I still hold a soft spot for the old school rap I grew up on like Kool Moe Dee and the Treacherous Three and Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five.
Favorite Song - If I’m looking to sing at the top of my lungs in the car? Mannish Boy by Muddy Waters or The Obvious Child by Paul Simon. Songs that move me? I Will Follow You into the Dark by Death Cab for Cutie, Beeswing – the Mary Lou Lord version, Simple Life by The Weepies and Samson by Regina Spektor.
Favorite Food - Steamed Clams…with a Harpoon IPA.
Favorite Drink - I love Ommegang’s Rare Vos…probably my favorite beer. Rounding out the top three are Magic Hat’s Heart of Darkness and Long Trail’s Double Bag.
Favorite Quote - “But he’s so healthy…he’s got a moustache and everything” – from the movie American Flyers spoken through tears by Alexandra Paul after learning that Kevin Costner’s character has a cerebral tumor. Not supposed to be funny but when you hear it and it registers what she says after hearing this traumatic news, that's pure unintentional comic genius. I know that's my third Costner movie...I promise that's the last time he'll come up.
Favorite Tour de France Rider - Eddy “The Cannibal” Merckx. Although he raced before my time, I grew up watching the Longslo Classic Road Race in Fitchburg and rented Jorgen Leth’s videos of Merckx from the library. Anyone who raced so hard he set nearly every cycling record imaginable in his career and had to retire at 32 is amazing. As for my current favorite, I’d have to say George Hincapie.
Favorite Magazine - East Coast Bike Culture and CycleSport
